Cantonese fusion sounds horrible, I know, but Seamstress makes it work like a dream. The ‘Chinatown style’ BBQ duck with sweet pickled lemons on perfumed rice and blanched soy sum is magnificent, as is the Berkshire pork belly, braised for twelve hours, served alongside drunken potatoes and steamed baby bok choy. The sharing plate ethos works very well at Seamstress, partly because you can order each dish as a small, medium, or large serving. The ex-garment factory aesthetic is enjoyed most from the top bar, which also excels in the cocktail department. Their espresso martini is a near-perfect emulsion. Seamstress is clearly a Bar with Benefits.
